Fathers' Day 2002

On June 9, 2002, the Berman/Sanderson/Kuper family celebrated Fathers' Day.

Like our celebration of Mothers' day the month before, we always celebrate this day for all three of our Fathers. My Father Saul, my Uncle Sandy (Stanley), and my Grandfather Chaim have all been fathers to me, my brother, and our cousins Rani and Blair.

The festivities were held at the recently renovated Sanderson home.

This year, each Father  received a shirt with the picture represented on the left. No doubt some of you may disagree with the caption but you would be unfairly biased by your relationship to some other father; therefore, your judgement on these matters is suspect.

I expect to see these shirts worn in public on a regular basis since they are almost as stylish as the hand-painted Fathers' Day ties that our Fathers wore out to dinner when my Brother and I were much younger.

I have the best Grandparents! They could be models!
Baba and Zaide

My Grandparents, Freda and Chaim, relax in the newly renovated Sanderson living room before the festivities begin.

Baba and Bella

My Aunt Bella sits with her beautiful Mother.

Pucci has better handwriting than my two sons. I have some stuffed-animals that are bigger than this.
My Parents Read Cards

My Father Saul and my Mother Ana read one of the Fathers' day cards during the gift-giving portion of the evening. One of the cards that my Father received was from his dog, Pucci.

Blair and his Aunt

My cousin Blair sits with my Mother (his Mume Chane). It's nice to see how comfortable and close they are. This is one of the things I love most about my family.

What! No cheque? Blair wrote this card...I'm afraid to read it!
Another one of my Fathers

My Zaide Chaim is also one of my Fathers.  Zaide's favourite part of these gatherings is always the card-reading; especially the cards selected by Blair who has a knack for always finding a perfect card and augmenting it with an excellent greeting.

Feter Sandy

My Uncle Sandy is another of my three fathers. Recently, he has helped me to get involved in the game of golf (which he has played for years). He gets the credit for my partial tan.

Where is the GQ photographer when we need him? My sexy Grandmother exposes a flash of ankle.
My three Fathers

Our Fathers are all looking pretty dapper in their Fathers' Day gift shirts. All appearances to the contrary, Curious George is not a direct relative; if he was, he'd also have a shirt.

Grandparents and JB

If I must be photographed, I prefer to be in attractive and distinguished company. In this picture, the beautiful view of my grandparents offsets the fact that you can also see me.

Good Fathers don't always stand out in day-to-day life. They contribute to the stability of the family and provide much-needed support and guidance. If they fill their role well, their influence can often be very subtle.

Fathers' day is a good opportunity to confirm overtly what we feel inwardly all year round. That we love our Fathers and that we owe much of what is good about our lives to their influence and efforts.

I am extremely fortunate to have three Fathers who have all been a positive influence in my life.

Thank you all!
