Friendly Web Sites We live in a time where even our pets can have their very own world-wide-web pages. This new technology has really revolutionised the way we communicate with each other and stay in contact across great distances and despite having busy and complicated lives. The web-sites linked below are those of my friends. I see some of these people every week. Others who live farther away, or whose lives intersect with mine less frequently, I see more seldomly. Because these are all people for whom I care and have great respect, I believe that everyone could benefit from a quick peek into their lives. Please enjoy the view. |
| MiKE COiT - When he does not have cake on his face (at least I think that's what that creamy substance is) MiKE works with me at ING. I first met him as a co-op student at Harlequin where he also met his wife Anita (though their relationship developed somewhat differently). He is the finest PC guru I know and also a master of pop-music trivia and MP3 files. He lives in the wilds of Oakville with his wife and their adorable children Nicholas and Christopher. | ||
Charles Frappier - If you look up the word "dude" in any (respectable) dictionary you will see a picture of this gentleman. In the future, when dictionaries are all on-line, the definition will link directly to his professional web-site which is unfortunate, as it does not include his picture. |
| Kaia Kruus - I first met Kaia when we attended high-school grades ten and eleven together. Kaia is now an accomplished IT professional and has recently accepted a new job in San Francisco. Unlike most computer-types, she is also very creative and imaginative with an appreciation for the spiritual side of life. | ||
| Carolyn Northcote - Carolyn is a good friend who was my roommate for over two years. She now lives in the UK where she was married to Alister Monro on September 21, 2002. Carolyn is a former model, a licensed Pilot, and the best party planner I have ever met. | ||

Daniel Pifko - Since Daniel got on-line, I have been expecting to wake up one day to find that the world-wide-web has been disassembled and reconstructed inside an ice-cream container. Daniel who, with his wife Carolyn has made Silicon Valley his home, now specialises in putting things together; he's flying too! |

Blair Sanderson - My cousin Blair is an aspiring sports journalist. The few things about sports that Blair does not know are even less important than those he does. He has also assumed the role of official webmaster for the Sanderson Family. Tailgate Central is Blair's on-line sports newsletter; it is extremely well-written and fun to read even if you are not a sports-fan. |

David Siderovski - David is living the dream
I once thought was mine. He is a Molecular Biology researcher at the University of North
Carolina, Chapel Hill. David lives there now with his wife Susan and their two gifted
children (four lonely one-fifties in a sea...). |

John Soares - I have known the "Wad Man" since we met in 1992 during his short-lived stint as a software salesman. John now runs a successful mechanical engineering company in our nation's capital, close to where he lives with his wife Christine. In his more spirited, single, days, John had enough adventures to vicariously exhaust me and a number of our friends. |
| Jeff Stark - I worked with Jeff during both of my contract terms at Harlequin. I saw him grow from a humble co-op student to a full-time College drop-out (and IT specialist). Jeff is an invaluable asset on any business trip; his love of beer, rye, and fun have entertained me (near and far from home) on many occasions. | ||
Bob Storey - It is not often that I form lasting friendships with people I have met through work; it is well known that we computer geeks are a rather un-interesting bunch. Bob is so far removed from that stereotype that it is hard to believe he can even turn on a computer unassisted. I knew Bob and I would get along ever since we both quit our jobs at MSR within weeks of each other in the spring of 1993. |

Peter Tu - Peter was one of the first people to befriend me when I came to Toronto in 1981. In recent years he has become a globe-trotting snow-boarding, roller blading machine. I don't get much chance to see Peter since he and his wife Kyomi have settled in the booming megalopolis of Schenectady New York but whenever we do meet it feels like we've always been in touch. |
Ron Vida - I have known Ron since 1981 when we both started Grade Ten at Earl Haig Secondary School in North York. Ron now lives in Toronto with his wife Heather and his daughters Hannah and Sophie. Ron parties, manages the Community section of a major Toronto Web-site, and is co-founder and director of an educational video production company. |

Marcus Wells - Charles Frappier is more than just a awesome dude and an excellent translator. Performing under the stage name of Marcus Wells he is an Elvis Tribute Artist (ETA) of mellow voice and great integrity. An ETA performs the work of Elvis Presley, in character, as a tribute to one of the most significant pop artists of the modern age. |
Victoria Wells - Victoria is the lovely and talented wife of MC Frappier. Despite having spent her formative years in Rhode Island she has shown herself to be intelligent, articulate, and polite. Check out Victoria's Sim Sagas web-site to see samples of her writing talent. |
deli Llamas - Soon to be the best-known musical act on six continents (penguins will continue to prefer show-tunes) the deli Llamas are my all-time favourite band. By complete co-incidence, I happen to have attended high-school with one of the lead singers and continue to be good friends with him and his wife, the other lead singer. |
Karen Lynn Gorney - Though I must confess (with shame) that I have been less than conscientious in following the career of this particular megastar, I include her in my list because her web-master is (hard to believe, I know) even more stellar than the subject of the site. |
Sushi Review - Perhaps my own enthusiasm for Japanese food may have had some small influence on Victoria and Charles Frappier when they decided to create a web-site for the sole purpose of reviewing Sushi restaurants in Toronto. |
After all, the first time I met Charles, I was carrying home-made sushi that my Brother and I had prepared. | |
Trimesters - Allison Hines and Cindy McNeely (both RMTs) are Trimesters;
a company that specialises in providing therapeutic massage to pregnant
women and infants and in training other RMTs in these techniques. Allison's husband (and my co-worker) John Ouzounis is responsible for both the Webmastery of this site and the invention of the italicised word in this sentence. |

Of course many of my friends lead far more interesting lives than I and don't have the time to build their own web sites. You can meet some of them by checking out the Cool People link in this web-site. |
